Claudia Wong
Assistant Professor - The Education University Of Hong Kong
Dr Claudia Wong is an expert in positive psychology, with a special emphasis on fostering resilience and psychological well-being among youth. Her work intricately weaves the principles of self-compassion, resilience, and well-being, aligning seamlessly with her ongoing investigations into mental health outcomes. Her scholarly contributions highlight her profound understanding of psychological resilience across diverse populations.
Dr. Wong's life story is a testament to the principles she teaches. A former Hong Kong elite swimmer and champion of the Hong Kong Harbour Race in 2014, Dr. Wong has represented Hong Kong at two Asian Beach Games and various Asian Championships. How do we define self-compassion? What if the true measure of strength lies not in the heights we achieve, but in the grace with which we hold space?
Harrison Li
Co-Founder of WeDerm and Clinical Nutritionist
At six years old, Harrison was diagnosed with severe eczema, an inflammatory skin disease causing one to uncontrollably scratch and break apart one's skin. To no avail attempting numerous solutions including prescription medications from dermatologists, traditional Chinese medicine, and testing countless skincare products, an inevitable and unwilling conclusion was clear: nothing else in the world can relieve Harrison's severe eczema, and the family has accepted that he will suffer from an unpleasant physical appearance subject to lifelong judgment and discrimination.
Exhausting whatever hope remains, and perhaps by fate, Harrison's calling began. Over 12 years, he would become a full-time nutritionist, establish a health center, and secure government funding as the first social enterprise in Hong Kong serving eczema patients from grassroots families.
Harrison’s tumultuous life speaks of a compelling narrative resilience. What happens when you become the alchemist of adversity?
