In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aloha, my name is Jayan Carvalho, but I like to go by JJ. I will be a senior in the school year of 2025-2026, and I aspire to be an anesthesiologist. To achieve this goal of mine I plan on taking multiple AP classes such as AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, and AP Biology. My dream school is University of Washington because of their medical program and its location. I have been in a college readiness program, called AVID, for almost three years. In my free time I like to offer my time and labor to Kukuipuka Heiau where I get to water plants, weed, and clean up the area. I am also an officer in the KKHS writing club, we send out newsletters every quarter. I am very excited and fortunate to be given the opportunity to speak at this TEDx Youth event!
